Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only does it act as a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: The society is now on their summer break, but will be starting full rehearsals again on Wednesday 2nd September in preparation for their concert performances of Ruddigore next Spring. For more information please contact Musical Director Aileen on 696 514 613.


Cantabile Ladies Choir: The Choir have recently performed two concerts in aid of local church funds. Now rehearsing the


Autumn and Christmas programme. If you are interested in joining a group of sociable, friendly ladies, you will be given a warm welcome. Careline Theatre: Careline brings to the stage the Careline Kids and Dance Academy in the musical play, Bugsy Malone adapted from the original movie version. As Gangsters and Molls, this is show for everyone young and old and not to be

The Choir break until September when rehearsals will start for their popular Christmas programme. The next season includes a first ever tour to a Choir festival in Barcelona, May 2016. Footlights Theatre Group: Calpe based Footlights will have their summer break, 23rd July to 3rd September. They are very busy with rehearsals for their November production of Annie. Membership and other enquiries to the Secretary

Jávea Players: Crocodiles in Cream, a one-man-show in which Kevin Moore presents a portrait of Lewis Carroll. The play draws on Carroll’s diaries, letters, poems and stories to take the audience into Carroll’s complex, fascinating world which is every bit as wonderful as the world of Alice’s adventures. Javea Players are bringing this one-man-show to their Studio Theatre from September 7th to 11th. Curtain- up 8pm. Tickets are 12.50€, available on 96 647 1455 and boxofficejp@gmail.com.

Oliva Drama and Cultural Association: ODCA have begun rehearsals for their autumn production, an Old Time Music Hall evening, no date or venue known yet. It will be a fun evening full of well-known songs and some comic sketches. They invite new members who would either like to perform, write scripts, or help backstage.
