Next Issue An announcement of what we plan to have in the March 2015 issue!
F
Exciting new era for Scale Aircraft Modelling’ S
ince its inception in October 1978, some 37 years ago, ‘Scale Aircraft Modelling’ (SAM) has continually strived to improve and enhance its presentation and content. Over the past six years, the magazine has seen a number of great
changes under the editorship of Jay Laverty, who is now moving on, and we wish him every success for the future.
We now look forward to announcing the appointment of our new editor
shortly, but in the meantime, we are delighted to welcome our 'old' friend Neil Robinson – (well perhaps not THAT old, sorry Neil!) – as guest editor for the next two issues.
From all at SAM/Guidelines we hope you have had a very Merry Christmas and
we wish you a Happy New Year. Please accept our apologies for the late publication of the January issue of ‘Scale Aircraft Modelling’, but we trust it was worth the wait
Regis Auckland Chairman - Guideline Publications
or those of you who are regular ‘SAM’ readers, and have been for many years – no, you haven’t gone back in time!
Some of you may remember that I did a stint as SAM's
editor in the mid-late 1990s/early 2000s... when I had more hair, was a LOT slimmer, and, as Reg succinctly mentioned, was bit younger!
Due to the rapid departure of Jay Laverty to pastures
new, (for which I wish him all the best), Guideline’s Directors have asked if I would stand in as temporary ‘caretaker’ editor for a couple of issues until a new permanent editor is appointed.
The timing could have been a little better (sic!) as the
Assistant Editor, Karl Robinson, (no relation, although over the past few weeks we have become very close and I now call him bruv!), and I were happily looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing Christmas/New Year break – but instead we have been beavering away at providing enough material to fill the next few issues, this particular issue, our first together, giving us a lot of “fun”!
The eagle-eyed amongst you will immediately recognise that none of the
feature articles match those that were announced in the last (ie January 2015) issue! However, Karl and I, with a group of modelling friends, have put together an issue that we hope will be equally as interesting and informative as the one that was announced.
The format of the magazine remains the same, it’s just that the content may
differ from what you might have been expecting Plans are in place for filling the March and April issues, after which Guidelines
will be in a position to announce who the new permanent editor will be... so, although the next couple of issues may be a little less ‘planned ahead’ than normal, I can guarantee they WILL be just as good, and I sincerely hope you’ll stay with us for what will certainly be an interesting, ride!
Until next month, Tally Ho!
Neil Robinson Guest Editor
