VAMPIREDIARIES

The undercarriage is well

detailed for its small size, but remains strong, and has a firm fit into place preventing any wobble that can occur on such thin legs. Again, as is the now the norm for Airfix, they provide wheels that are pre- weighted for a realistic look. Separate doors are provided in the kit should you wish to build an inflight model. An optional set of wing tanks are also provided depending on how you want the model to look.

Decalling went without a

hitch and all of decals settled well with only minimal usage of setting solution. All of the printing was sharp and readable

down to the smallest of stencils. My only complaint with them, and it is very small one, is that the white of the roundels is not strong enough to deal with the dayglo-orange underneath. Where they sit on the upper wing allows the colour to bleed through on one side. Although knowing in advance allows you to either spray a white circle, or cut a circular white decal to sit underneath the roundel easily resolving this minor issue.

This little Vampire kit is very

well detailed and will suit those wanting to build straight from the box, as well as those wanting

a base to go further with

detailing. I thoroughly enjoyed my build and found very little to cause any problems in construction, apart from those of my own making. Airfix have a hit on their hands with a very well-engineered kit, and at a very reasonable price. Although we now know of the plans for Airfix releases during 2015, we can only hope that they may consider tooling up single seat variants of the Vampire in the near future as, judging by this kit, they can only be a success?
