Trumpeter have ticked off yet another type long overlooked by the mainstream and given us a de Havilland Hornet in 1:48th scale. Although the Hornet was not in service for that long, it is an attractive and interesting subject none the less. Moulded in the typical Trumpeter style, the kit has cleanly moulded detail with recessed panel lines and rivet detail. The cockpit is nicely detailed and includes a good seat and separately moulded side walls, although it would have been nice to have the inclusion of a photo- etch fret to represent seat belts as no provision is made in the plastic. Flaps are separate and are moulded in the open position, although simple work allows them to be closed if required. This is a very nice representation of the Hornet and bodes well for the forthcoming releases of two more variants of this type to follow during the year.
