A PERFECT TEN

1:144th McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 £10.00

Authentic Airliners of Germany have quietly built up a reputation over the last few years for producing accurate, high quality and detailed resin kits of airliners in both 1:144th and 1:72nd scales. They already have a good catalogue of full resin models in their range covering a number of airliners including both jet and propeller types. Their latest release features the Douglas DC-10-30 and is a full resin kit including photo-etch parts for additional small detailing. Authentic Airliners kits do not come with any decals included, so these need to be sourced from other aftermarket providers, although that is a small price to pay considering the beautiful detail included in the kit. The DC-10 is available now, priced at €89.00, directly from Authentic Airliner’s website at www.authentic-airliners.de

EASTERN AIR LINES IS BACK

Well knock me down with a feather, for years we have been wanting a newly tooled mainstream injection moulded kit of the venerable Ilyushin Il-62 in 1:144th scale, and suddenly within months of each other two examples are arriving on our shelves. Just recently Zvezda released their fantastic kit and at the same time Ukrainian manufacturer ICM announced news of their version that is under production (14403). CAD images revealed by ICM show a detailed model featuring well defined panel lines. It looks to be slightly more simple in design than the Zvezda example in that it does not have the dropped flaps option, although for those that want to display the aircraft this way will make for an easier build option and no less attractive. So far markings included are unknown but the box art shows an aircraft, CCCP-86500, featuring the classic 1970’s Aeroflot scheme bearing the ‘Official Olympic Carrier’ legend from the 1980 Moscow Olympic games.

1:144th McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 3D Style window decals

€9.00

Also available from Authentic Airliners are some clever window decals for their DC-10 kit. These decals for both cockpit and cabin windows offer up a 3D style effect showing internal details, crew and passengers which can be used alongside any other airline markings. The effectiveness of these decals cannot be understated in their final effect on a finished model. Others sets are available for a number of the different aircraft types for which Authentic Airliners currently have kits.
