when opening up the box as the large and impressive B-29 fuselage fills the large box end to end, with plenty of plastic filling up the rest. As with many Academy kits, the detail levels are excellent with clean and crisp mouldings. The kit features a well detailed cockpit and internals that will be seen through the large glass greenhouse of a nose; which is also moulded perfectly clean, clear and faultlessly. Details are provided for the internal bomb bay including a number of sticks of bombs. Large spars are provided to support the hefty wings and also make it possible for the wings to be removable when built, for those with limited display space. Five new decal options are provided from the 58th Bomb Wing, based in India in 1944, which are all good examples of B-29’s in camouflage schemes (olive drab over grey) offering up a less daunting prospect for those that are still unsure about natural metal finishes.
