Scale ModelWorld 2014 saw Airfix announce a number of new releases to the world, so no one really expected any more big news this year; but just like Santa, they managed to keep something secret as a really big surprise for modellers just prior to the festive holidays.
Amazingly Airfix had a further 8 new and tantalising aircraft releases up their sleeves for 2015, on top of the 4 already announced at Telford in November. Also included are a number of re- releases that will be appearing throughout the year. Here is a brief rundown of the exciting products to expect during the forthcoming months.
Januarywill see the arrival of the newly tooled 1:72nd scale Boulton Paul Defiant Mk 1 as a standard kit (A02069) priced at £7.99, gift set (A55213) at £9.99, and Dogfight Double package paired with the recent Dornier Do 17 (50170) at £21.99.
February ushers in a 1:48th Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I (A05126) with a price tag of £16.99
March brings another newly tooled 1:48th scale kit in the form of the Hawker Hurricane Mk I (A05127) at £16.99 as well as a 1:72nd scale Hawker Siddeley Harrier AV-8A (A04057) for £14.99. Also due in the first quarter of the year will be the new 1:72nd scale Nakajima B5N2 ‘Kate’ (A04058) at £14.99
July sees the arrival of three new 1:72nd scale World War 2 aircraft including the Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat (A02070), Heinkel He 111P-2 (A04019), and Bristol Beaufighter Mk X (A06014), priced at £7.99, £14.99, and £19.99 respectively. The Wildcat will also appear in a Dogfight Doubles boxing along with the Nakajima B5N2 ‘Kate’ priced at £19.99, as will the Beaufighter be seen paired with the Focke- Wulf Fw 190 at £21.99.
