They complemented each other very well and GR.3, you will need to source a VINTEN VICON LOROP pod that is half given, Blue-
Black Disruptive was used instead.
When I was happy with the finish, a fine
finishing cloth (1200 grade) removed any blemishes before three final coats of Johnsons ‘Kleer’ were applied with a clean, wide, flat paint brush. The airframe was left pretty clean overall, but the opportunity was taken, and a little artistic license
with the 1200 litre
fuel tanks – the port tank being standard RAF Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey with starboard tank in a patchy and rather beaten up so-called ‘Desert Pink’ shade. Quite a fine contrast can be made of this fit and I also took the decision to harmonise the VINTEN pod in standard Jaguar colours.
For a later modified Jaguar
the size. Not wishing to make the
appearance too scruffy, Lifecolor weathering pigments (PG111) Northern European dust was blended in only on the ‘main wear vicinity’ around the tops of the intakes and back towards the inner main flap area. This represented boot- scuffing ‘wear and tear’ that is a common sight on most military aircraft.
Decals came from the kit and
from Kits-World Jaguar sheet KW148052 – (thanks Nigel).
only needed a hint of solvent and a fresh dab of ‘Kleer’ to seal them in. The attractive red and white St Omer cross markings stand out against a cool white winter finish to perfection.
Having applied a final 50-50
mix of Hannant’s Xtracrylic satin-matt varnish, I made and painted a number of intake covers and RBF tags out of thin plasticard and masking tape.
Despite it being a rather old
style re-boxing, with a hint of resin here and there, this kit can still be turned around in to a show stopper. Would I build another one? Sure why not; after all you now know what is in the box!
