potted sneaking into the 2014/15 HobbyBoss

catalogue is kit no. 81752 showing a 1:48th scale SAAB J-32 Lansen. It was surprising that the Lansen had been overlooked for so long but it now seems that HobbyBoss will be the second manufacturer, after Tarangus of Sweden, to bring us a kit of this all Swedish jet that saw operational service for over 40 years. It is good to see that HobbyBoss have not lost their appetite for providing kits of the unusual and less appreciated subjects out there. We have provided a listing of the other new 1:48th scale kits that HobbyBoss have planned for the future.

variant of the Lockheed VC-140B Jetstar. The U.S. Air Force received 16 of these American business class aircraft that were assigned to the

89th Military Airlift Wing which engaged in the carriage of top officials of the Air Force and Government. Between 1963 and 1989 its passengers included Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan. After the Jetstar’s retirement, the airframe that had served the presidents the most was transferred to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton Ohio, where it is preserved.

F11F TIGER I

nteresting news has filtered through from Kitty Hawk that they are underway with development of a brand new kit of

the 1950’s U.S. Navy jet fighter, the Grumman F11F Tiger. Surprisingly they have chosen 1:32nd scale for their release, but this could open the door for a 1:48th scale kit in the future. So far only preliminary CAD images have been released, which we have included here. With a number of different U.S. Navy squadrons that operated the F11F, as well as a stint with the Blue Angels display team, there should be many colourful options to pick from when the kit is released.

22nd February 1945 – Allied Air Forces launch Operation Clarion, a concerted effort to wipe out all forms of transport available to the Germans in 24 hours. Nearly 9,000 aircraft, operating from bases in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Italy attack over 250,00 square miles of territory, targeting railways, bridges, ports and roads.
