Home & Garden

Well it is November and the nights have now started drawing in, so it is time to get your plants cut back and organised for winter. We have started doing our regular clearances for our customers, so we

know the garden is neat and tidy and ready for winter. As we have had a little rain recently your garden may be enjoying the cooler weather and the natural water and normally may be flowering and growing again. If it is and the plant is flowering then you can leave it for a little longer, but when it does start to cool off then you must give it a little prune. Pruning at the correct times of year and in the correct way ensures much more vibrant healthy and colourful growth from your plant. Remember only prune back plants that are more frost hardy, leave susceptible plants with full growth. This pruning is merely a trim to keep the plant neat, as most plants have lost their shape since being pruned in the spring. It also means that you don’t have

as much of a battle when you do a deep prune in the spring. In the spring you can then cut back (fairly hard) on most plants, but if you are unsure fire a question to me with the type of plant it is and I am always available for advice to help guide you. Remove any crossed branches, excess growth and re-shape the plant if it has taken on an odd shape. Only prune back your non-hardy plants when they first start to bud, this is a clear indicator that the plant is drawing sap and is happy, and once this is happening you can be sure it will recover very quickly after pruning. If you have lawns, you should be aerating and top dressing them to keep them in the best of condition, for grama grass lawns they will always lose their colour through the winter as they are very dependent on sunlight so we can supply a feed for the plant (grass) which helps keep it green during the winter months. Luckily you won’t have to paint it like they did at the World Cup. If you are really tired of putting up with your old tired lawn by all means give us a call to come and price for installing artificial grass, with a new selection of grass from another manufacturer, I know we are unrivalled with our selection of grass now. If you are interested you can look at our grass specific website, www.artificial-grass-spain.com. A quick reminder also, I know that most of you will be turning attention to Christmas soon but if you are wanting to make changes, planting or landscaping doing to your garden ready for summer, you need to jump on it quickly and at least get the ball rolling. For now enjoy your cooler autumn (we deserve it after the long summer) kick back, enjoy your garden space and

remember we are always here to help. Thanks, Lee Charlesworth. For any enquiries or further information call 696 283 704 or visit our website www.charlesworthgardens.com.
