Costa Blanca women celebrate and share issues and options on women’s health and beauty
On 22nd and 23rd November, the VENUS CELEBRATIONS will focus on raising awareness on the state of breast cancer in Spain as well as breast removal and reconstruction surgery. So many women who live in Spain need to know this information; if not for themselves, then for their daughters, aunts, and mothers.
Today, women and even men - have a choice! The double mastectomy has been the subject of discussion in recent years after celebrities including Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, former X Factor judge Sharon Osborne and singer Michelle Heaton underwent the procedure as a preventive measure against breast cancer.
Gaile Griffin Peers will be the guest speaker at the VENUS opening ceremony. As a woman who chose to have the full breast removal and reconstruction procedure here in Spain, her talk will focus on these main topics. Remaining positive and jovial about her ordeal, she will also share how she has remained a Venus woman full of beauty, love and sexuality.
“There I was in my mid-fifties and feeling very down about my size and shape and wondering what to do about it, when I was offered this amazing opportunity for full cosmetic surgery,” explains Jávea resident Gaile Griffin Peers.
“Okay, the downer was having to go through the cancer rigmarole to get it, being bald was a slightly more dramatic hairstyle than I was contemplating for the ‘new me’,” she continues with a chuckle. “But, what is a couple of years of messing about against a new body and the promise of a life and future? Plus when you are running out of options and the alternative is pretty miserable - grasp every positive you can from life and embrace it”.
Also at the opening ceremony head table will be the beauty and health professional women who will be showcasing their enterprises the following day, 23rd November, at the VENUS TRADE SHOW. Each will be giving a 2 minute presentation to all guests.
Following a fabulous meal, local singer Gill Henry will be the opening ceremony’s VENUS DIVA and promises to entertain with power-filled and fun womanly-based songs, which are guaranteed to entertain and delight.
All details and ticket reservations can be found at Costa Blanca Beauty & Health Information -
www.CBBH.info - which was created as a directory of beauty and health professionals on the Costa Blanca, that could be easily found and accessed via a website and on smart phones.
THE VENUS CAMPAIGN is the creation of cultural activist and professional educator Karla Darocas. It was her idea to put a plan of action in place to bring the community of international women together so they could share their beauty and health experiences as well as promote their professional services and products.
Her neighbour and longtime Dru Yoga instructor, Reiki Master and language instructor, Trudi van Dorp came into the project not only as a professional health support provider, but also to help guide the international community with her mastery of many languages.
Raffles on both days will go to support the efforts of MABS - a cancer support group.
