However, regardless of whether the offi ces of Fish Farmer still remain in the United Kingdom, or if they now stand in an independent nation, what became clear during the lead up to the referendum, was that ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ voters alike spoke about Scotland with nothing but pride, confi dence and belief. land, not just on the production side of things. For example, the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation


Centre, Landcatch becoming majority shareholder in Troutlodge and the redevelopment of Ardtoe Marine Research Facility – which will include a national shellfi sh research centre – are just three Scottish R&D stories to shout ,about. Plus, there’s the news that many farms are reporting negligible numbers of sea lice for this cycle. Across the industry it seems, companies are investing in new equipment and technologies, and it looks like the mist of doom and gloom that has hung over the industry for so long is fi nally beginning to burn off. Scotland’s fi sh farmers have a lot to be proud of and,


if they keep doing things as they have been, then they should also look to the future with confi dence and with- out worry or fear. FF
