“I think the main reason you don’t see lighting at all events is that people don’t speak the language of lighting,” notes Wicks. “They don't know about all of the technology, and they may feel intimidated by the prospect of asking for something they don’t know a lot about.”


Wicks goes on to say that the future of event technology undoubtedly involves interactivity, adding that the next genera- tion of young professionals has been driv- ing the need for more interactive technol- ogy at events. “Companies need to be cre- ative in leveraging existing technology in an effort to meet this new demand. For example, traditional Q&A often is being


replaced by Twitter feed updates that can be displayed live and on screen. This is a win for all parties involved, because atten- dees are generally more comfortable pos- ing questions in this way, as opposed to standing in front of their peers and speak- ing into a microphone. Additionally,

gives presenters contact information of the interested party, allowing for post- event follow up.”
