These two longer foyer sections are broken by the striking presence of the VVIP En- trance foyer and registration area. Domi- nated by a giant spider sculpture, the area is illuminated from above by a dynamic ceiling composed of 5-metre-squared back- lit panels. DMX-controlled LEDs allow a full range of colour options and a hoist mecha- nism enables the entire ceiling height to be adjusted. A full entertainment lighting rig runs down either side of the ceiling: square-section trusses loaded with a total of 280 Martin MAC 575 moving head projectors that can be lowered in sync. The MAC 575s provide full colour-changing, rotating and static gobos, and dimmers that are used for paint- ing fabric patterns onto walls and floors, as well as illuminating the Sidra tree façade structures. Im Auftrag der Qatar Foundation als Teil der Ent- wicklung der Education City in Doha weist das Qatar National Convention Centre hochmoderne Einrich- tungen und ein ikonisches Design auf (auf Grund- lage des Sidra-Baums – traditionell ein Platz zum Debattieren und Lernen). Das Gebäude verfügt über zehn multifunktionelle Hallen für globale und re- gionale Kongresse, Ausbildungsseminare, Konzerte und Vorträge. Mit seinem 40.000 m2 großen Aus- stellungsbereich wird es ein prestigeträchtiger Bestimmungsort mit hohem Bekanntheitsgrad für globale Ausstellungen, Bankette des Präsidenten und nationale Veranstaltungen. Light + Design Associates aus GB unter Leitung des Direktors Lee Prince wurden beauftragt, ein Beleuchtungskonz- ept für das Projekt zu entwickeln. Ihre Aufgabe war es, umfassend den polyvalenten Charakter der verschiedenen Bereiche im gesamten Zentrum, ein- schließlich aller Hallen und des außergewöhnlich

The system is integrated with security, production lighting and building manage- ment system. To complement the interior illumination seen through the glazed façade, a selection of 70W and 150W metal halide inground uplights provide structural illumination, not least to the outer surface of the Sidra tree pillars.
Over the six-year build, Prince remained in consultation with Robert White of US-based Illuminart, who headed up the lighting side of the construction team and helped with the aiming and focussing of fixtures across the whole project. In its aim to provide a diversity of functions, the QNCC has already proved its worth. Exceptionally well received in the region, it has so far hosted UN conferences, a World Petroleum Exhibition and a production of Kevin Spacey’s Richard III.

La nuova Galleria Burgas è il primo centro di shop- Commissionato dalla Fondazione del Qatar come parte dello sviluppo della Education City (Città Educativa) di Doha, il Centro Congressi Nazionale del Qatar vanta delle strutture innovative ed un design iconico ( basato sull’albero Sidra – tra- dizionalmente considerato un luogo di dibattito ed insegnamento). La costruzione ospita dieci sale multifunzionali per accogliere congressi, lezioni accademiche, concerti e esibizioni teatrali a livello regionale e mondiale. Con uno spazio disponibile di 40,000 metri quadrati, il centro è destinato a
diventare una destinazione di alto prestigio per rappresentazioni ed esibizioni a livello mondiale , banchetti presidenziali ed eventi nazionali. Light and Design Associates con base nel Regno Unito, con a capo Lee Prince, sono stati chiamati per svi- luppare uno schema di illuminazione per il progetto che tenesse conto della natura multifunzionale dei diversi spazi all’interno dell’edificio, inclusi tuti i corridoi e l’atrio VVIP eccezionalmente grande - an- che esso utilizzato per diverse esibizioni e rappre- sentazioni. I sistemi di illuminazione richiesti non solo hanno il compito di enfatizzare le molteplici funzioni del centro, ma anche di offrire un pezzo forte di illuminazione architetturale.

La nueva Galleria Burgas es el primer centro de en- treComisionado por la Fundación Qatar como parte del desarrollo de la Ciudad Educativa de Doha, El Centro Nacional de Convenciones de Qatar hace alarde de las instalaciones de vanguardia y de un
diseño icónico (basado en el Sidra tree – tradicio- nalmente un lugar para el debate y el aprendizaje). El edificio alberga 10 halls multifuncionales para recibir convenciones mundiales y regionales, con- ferencias educacionales, conciertos y recitales. Con 40.000 m2 de espacio disponible para exhibición, está armado para convertirse en un destino de alto perfil y de prestigio para exhibiciones mundiales, banquetes presidenciales y eventos nacionales. Light + Design Associates con base en el Reino Unido, dirigido por su director Lee Prince, fueron los convocados para desarrollar el proyecto de iluminación. Sus instrucciones fueron que interac- tuara con la naturaleza multi-uso de los diferentes espacios a lo largo del centro, incluyendo todos los halls y el excepcionalmente grande vestíbulo VVIP - también utilizado para varias exhibiciones y performances. Se requirió que los sistemas de iluminación no solo realzaran y complementaran la función del edificio sino que ofreciera una pieza de iluminación arquitectónica destacada, haciendo que el lugar sea comentado regionalmente.
