120 DECORATIVE & DESIGN / PRODUCT Interieur
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM OCT 20 – 28 2012
For the first time, the Biennale In- terieur broke the bounds of the city’s exhition centre and spread to a second site - a selection of warehouses and industrial buildings on Buda Island in the heart of Kortrijk. To create a linking theme across the two locations, the main exhibition halls took on the theme of ‘The City’, replacing the usual rectilinear exhibi- tion aisles with a pleasingly disorientat- ing street-system. In essence this layout encourage visitors to quite litterally lose themselves among the wealth of creative objects on show. Among them were the hand-picked pieces at Ventura Interieur, a selec- tion curated by Contemporary Design Platfrom, some of which can be found in the pages that follow.

New series Sarah Dehandschutter
Dehandschutter uses a single bar, curved and covered in stretched fabric to create hallow volumes. The cloth is drenched in a starch based bioplas- tic, which when dry remains translu- cent enough to let the light through, concealing the light source inside and producing a pleasant, diffuse glow.
