store includes feature elements - installed at the request of Lacoste France – that follow a blueprint unitary design. These include semi-recessed LED light boxes, located above the ‘Polo Bars’ (polo shirt display points) and LED strips that run above the polo shirt rails and edge light the etched Perspex ‘style guide’ panels. To visually connect the floors, the architect increased the structural voids in the ground and first floors to accommodate a bespoke staircase. Made-to-order, resin cast LED Lin- ear Venus strips are concealed in the nose detail of each step to provide a durable lighting solution. A billboard-style triola fea- ture wall creates a background of changing imagery at the back of the stairwell. This is illuminated by 70W metal halide up- and downlighting. A glass walled lift also provides access between the floors. A long, narrow LED light box, positioned in the corner of the lift shaft and running its full height, illuminate the picture wall within it. A Mode Lighting astronomical control system provides auto scene changing throughout the day for lighting across the store. Not only does it adapt to the changing seasons, taking into account the shifting sundown and sunrise times, but a photoreceptor on the roof of the building feeds into the system, allowing it to compensate for varia- tion in ambient light levels. Les concepteurs d’éclairage d’INTO en ont eu la tâche de créer un système unique pour magasin Lacoste, nouveau fleuron à Londres du Knights- bridge district. Réparti sur trois étages, le magasin est le plus grand de la marque et, avec une empreinte inhabi- tuelle et une hauteur de plafonds variables, allant


de 2,6 m à 4m, l’éclairage devait donc être suf- fisamment souple pour offrir un niveau de luminosi- té similaire dans toutes les hauteurs de plafond. Le design a également besoin d’être évolutif afin qu’il puisse être déployé dans les petits magasins, tout en conservant des éléments d’éclairage prin- cipaux. Après plusieurs maquettes avec différentes sources de lumière et température de couleur, et après la création et l’analyse des simulations d’éclairage et des calculs en utilisant un logiciel de concep- tion spécialisé en éclairage, il a été conclu que les sources aux halogénures métalliques étaient le meilleur choix. Metal Halide peut fournir les niveaux d’éclairement élevés exigés pour les présentoirs de produits et était en mesure de proposer un rendu des couleurs élevé sans sacrifier le rendement lu- mineux. Ils ont installé un Philips 930 Elite comme source de lumière principale. Le système d’éclairage conçu pour Knightsbridge a déjà été utilisé sur un plus petit magasin de Londres pour un grand effet.
