Following the lavish refurbishment of Terminal 2, Ansorg has brought an innovative lighting design to a string of designer stores in Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Since its refurbishment in 2004, Terminal 2 of Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris has not lacked style and in a continuing attempt by the Parisian airport authorities to return glamour to air travel, a string of new duty free stores have been opened. The shops, a joint venture between Lagardere Services Group and Aeroports de Paris (ADP) have also been placed in the passageway between sectors A and C in the international hub.
Created by the design agency Versions to reflect Parisian style, the BuY Paris Duty Free stores form the setting for some of France’s most famous brands, from perfume and cosmetics to gourmet food and confectionery.
An LED lighting design was developed by Ansorg France and uses efficient LED solutions to help create a suitable atmosphere for the display of luxury
products. Downlights were used to ensure homogenous bright lighting in the room and narrow-beam spotlights have been utilised to accentuate individual products. A Vario lighting channel system dominates the middle of the room and the system is variable allowing adjustments as retail displays change. Narrow-beam, gimbal mounted, recessed spotlights are also used on all of the outer ceilings in order to emphasise the products, and the lighting is applied to give the customer a sense of direction while walking around the room. Take spotlights are placed along peripheral areas bringing light to the wall shelves while the spotlight’s lumen package ensures that the lighting is homogenous. Narrow-beam spotlights from the Brick series are positioned amid the Take spotlights which place highlights on the flat product carriers in the middle of the room
and Maxx LED downlights are used to light the checkout area. The entrance has also been designed to include extra illumination, placed with the intention of creating a crowd pulling effect.
The interior design of the store changes depending on what product is being displayed. Wood painted white was used for perfume, cosmetics and confectionery, while black was used for furniture in the wine, spirits and gastronomy spaces. The tobacco section was decorated in different shades of brown.
Information boards have been helpfully installed to ensure that despite the alluring shopping opportunities, passengers are never in danger of missing their flight.
