SWEP
The South West Equine Protection (SWEP) show held on 23rd
September at Tall Trees
Arena in Cornwall was well attended. SWEP shows are well known for their friendly atmosphere and cater for every type of horse or pony. Most classes are sponsored by local businesses that have their name published in the schedule and on the tail of the first placed rosette.
SWEP run a re-homing scheme and one of the ponies attending the show ‘Xera ‘was one of their success stories. Xera had been for sale at Chagford market and was very distressed when the SWEP team noticed her and brought her home to recover. As time went on she grew in confidence and was able to be re-homed.
Katriona Rich who helps organise the SWEP shows said “It was lovely to see Xera at the show, I witnessed her at Chagford Market and had been involved with her at the SWEP yard; but to see her accepting humans and allowing me to stroke her at the show was amazing. A real bonus when she went on to win her class”
The show was also attended by Kieran Obrian, who is one the Vets who helps at the SWEP yard. Kieran was delighted to win the large breeds Mountain and Moorland and take home the in Hand Championship with Rinaneel. The reserve In Hand championship went to Kathy Harris with Sierra who won the Best Cob type.
