CHAPS
The Coloured Horse and Pony Championship sponsored by
CHAPS was won for the fourth year running by Jayne Webber riding Mandy Hughes and Carol Bardo nine year old piebald gelding
The Humdinger which took the traditional Native Horse Section and was Jayne’s fifth win with this great horse. Jayne rode brilliantly in the championship giving an exciting gallop in front of the grandstand to perfection.
Lisha Leeman who runs Kellythorpe Stud was runner up in this section with the eleven year-old Janus and the stable also had a sixth and eighth with Pussy Galore and Mona Lisa. Matthew Lawrence from Bristol who judged the Master Class on Saturday afternoon finished fifth riding Alex McKillop’s nine year old Skewbald gelding Tomahawk III. Jessica Pritchard from Pontyclun took reserve champion after her good win in the non native pony riding the twelve year old skewbald mare Bryntegwllnau and was making her tenth appearance being third last year and champion in 2006.
Louise Edgar from
Stretcholt, near Bridgwater was fifth in this section riding the seven year old mare Wilderness Fancy Lola by Southill Duke out of Langfield Fancy Dragon owned by her mother Wendy and bred by her next door neighbours Richard and Yvonne Eaves.
Hayley Patterson also based at Wendy and Louise’ yard was sixth with the nine year old Shybont Bean Dance by Masterpiece V and both qualified at CHAPS Midland Group. Hayley’s mother Angela nee Underwood was a former showjumper from Doncaster and had great success with Mr T and is now based in Northern Ireland with her husband Fred who does the Patterson Horseboxes.
ARABS
The Arab Magazine Ridden Championship went to Worcestershire based Clare Fitch formerly from
Lancashire who won the stallion section with Edwina and Richard Warner’s eight year old stallion Patros III by Psytadel which qualified at the North West Regional Group,

Clare also won the ridden mares with the ten year old Judales Berngin by Ruger Anw, while Stephanie Zebedee from Verwood, Dorset put in a good sixth riding L. Coombes’s 14 year-old Eastworth Ahmoshini by Moashiro out of Amalia having qualified at North Staffs Arab Festival.
The youngest rider William Bentley-Lovell from Devon was eighth riding the six year old Viola Des Alpes by Lothar El Nyhi which was a winner at NPS Summer Championships. Wendy Gibson from Kennford, Exeter finished sixth in the geldings riding Hayley Hyde-Andrews 14 year-old Majestic Cavalier by Golden Cavalier. Abbi Holmes had a long journey from Cornwall and was ninth in the ridden stallion section riding Khallis Design by Master Design, both Wendy and Abbi qualified at the South West Region Show.
