British Horse Feeds Red Dragon Endurance Ride
Yeoman and Nikki Malcolm at
Success for David
This year’s British Horse Feed Red Dragon Festival of Endurance was a huge success as competitors enjoyed the glorious scenery across the roof of Mid Wales in fair weather conditions.
David Yeoman, from Bruton in Somerset, took the title ride with his 12-year-old French Bred Part Arab Marlouf de Norvavre. David has been endurance riding since 2004 and has been partnered with his handsome gelding for two years.
The pair completed the two day 162km Speedi-Beet Red Dragon endurance ride finishing in first place, followed by Carri-Ann Dark and then Lauren Mills. At the end of the first day David was in sixth place and says he ‘didn’t expect to win’.
Said David: “We set off on day two in sixth place and just kept plugging away, he was slow to vet as he was quite excited. Marlouf then seemed to have a burst of energy towards the finish and we overtook three people on the very last hill! The weather was fantastic and we really appreciate winning a year’s supply of Speedi-Beet.”
Nikki Malcolm riding Bold Greyson, who is owned by Christine Yeoman (David’s sister-in-law) won the Fibre- Beet Dragon’s Tail (120km) and the British Horse Feeds Little Dragon (80km).
Somerset-based Nikki partnered Bold Greyson when he arrived from the USA and the Full Arab was Nikki’s fourth Red Dragon winner.

Said Nikki: “Greyson was produced on a very good yard and I am lucky to have the ride on him. I used Speedi-Beet at the vet gates to supplement the water and encourage Greyson to drink. The year’s supply that I won will come in very handy.”
Nikki added: “The
organisers do a fantastic job of running Red Dragon and allow us to have our end of season party – I can’t thank them all enough.”
