counting and no maths. Sensitivity is 0.1 ppm – well below the maximum health department guideline for public pools and it can measure up to 11.0 ppm of free and combined chlorine. The test could not be easier to perform. You dip the meter into the pool water to get a sample. The sample cell automatically fills to the proper volume. You ‘zero’ the meter by pushing a button to measure a water sample with no reagents. Now you move a test strip back and forth for 20 seconds (the meter even tells you when 20 seconds are up). Then you push a button and read the results on the meter’s large LCD display.

Almost all of the problems associated with typical liquid and dry DPD and FAS-DPD testing are eliminated. Reagents are stable and have a long shelf life. Reagents are not affected by heat or cold. Interferences, false positives and phantom readings are gone. No more counting drops. You don’t need to decide on sample size. You don’t have to figure out colours and matching. The meter can determine colours many times better than your eyes.

PALINTEST 9 SETS THE STANDARD The Pooltest 9 Premier is quick and easy to use and provides accurate readings. It has pre- programmed tests for chlorine levels of bromine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, copper and ozone.

The Pooltest 9 Premier stores up to 100 results from an on-board memory. There is a waterproof USB port for PC connection.

Palintest’s Pooltest 9 and 25 Professional Plus units have built-in support for the new DPD XF and XT extended range chlorine test tablets. A new balanced water calculation function was recently added, which automatically uses the results from the standard tests to produce a Palintest or Langelier index result. The standard or extended chlorine ranges can be easily selected from the settings menu, which means that the buttons and test regimes are kept the same at all times.

Both free and total chlorine levels for 0-10 ppm are covered by the tablets respectively, and the tests work in exactly the same simple way as the original 0-5 ppm range.

The second new feature is the built-in water balance calculation. This converts results from the usual chemical tests without the need to re-enter the data manually, greatly speeding and easing the process. Recommended ideal conditioning agent parameters are then provided to aid swimming pool maintenance personnel. The Pooltest 9 version features all the typical tests needed for pool water testing, and the Pooltest 25 model includes capabilities for more specialised testing as well for example sulphate and phosphate levels.

HANNA DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY OFFERS FAST, ACCURATE

RESULTS

The look and smell of the water in a pool can tell you a lot about its quality but the key to efficient pool maintenance is to ensure the correct levels of chlorine, cyanuric acid and pH levels. The Portable Pool Tester from Hanna Instruments measures all the parameters.

Advanced digital technology is packaged into the

THE PERFECT POOL WATER READINGS ARE:

• pH: 7.2 - 7.8 • Chlorine: 1.0 - 2.0ppm • Total Alkalinity: 80 - 120ppm • Calcium Hardness: 180 - 220ppm (though some say 200 - 400)

• Cyanuric Acid: 25 - 50ppm • Total Dissolved Solids: 500 - 5,000ppm

photometer, the Hanna HI-96725 which measures all three parameters quickly and accurately. It comes complete with Hanna’s calibration check facility allowing the user to verify and calibrate the meter on-site. By removing the need to send the instrument back to the laboratory for calibration, Hanna has lowered the operational life costs associated with the Pool Tester and improved its efficiency. It is ideal for routine pool maintenance and operates using a single button and produces reliable results in seconds. spn
