WATERCO RISES TO CHALLENGE WITH NEW FIBREGLASS PRESSURE TANKS
With fibreglass pressure tanks rapidly replacing steel tanks in commercial and industrial applications, Waterco Europe Ltd has launched a specially- designed fibreglass split-tank pressure vessel with an unprecedented pressure rating of 4 bar. The Micron Split Tank filter has been designed with demanding environments in mind.
“As it’s made from fibreglass, the Micron Split Tank filter can withstand high pressure, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications including water treatment and commercial swimming pool facilities,” explains Tony Fisher, Managing Director of Waterco Europe.
The fibreglass filter is also ideal for retrofitting. “It can be delivered in two parts and assembled on site in the plant room. The two halves seal
perfectly, using an o-ring and are held together by a flange using bolts and nuts. The filter is specifically designed to fit through existing plant room doors,” Fisher adds. “The Micron Split Tank filter is ideal for installations with challenging environments,” says Fisher. “For example, it can be used as a pre-filter in seawater desalination processes. It provides a durable and effective alternative to filters currently made from expensive high-grade steel alloy.” Waterco’s Micron Split Tank also features a ‘fish tail’ lateral, which improves water flow distribution through the filter bed.
“Conventional laterals are not suitable for larger size commercial filters,” says Fisher. “‘Dead legs’ exist between the laterals, and the water flow is not optimised through the

filter bed. Conversely, Waterco’s ‘fish tail’ lateral configuration eliminates any dead legs.”
The split tanks offer the same flexibility of Waterco’s commercial filters, and different sight glass and manhole sizes can be included. The filter comes in four sizes – 48", 56", 64" and 72" – to deal with a variety of flow requirements.
Fibreglass pressure tanks have a number of major advantages over steel tanks including: • Durability: Fibreglass vessels have a mechanical and chemical resistance superior to steel, plus fibreglass does not rust or corrode.
• More lightweight: Fibreglass tanks weigh only one third that of steel vessels, whilst maintaining the same level of strength. This makes them easy to ship and install.

• Easy to maintain: Once installed they are virtually free of maintenance or repairs.

Thermopool has just launched a new energy saving 75/100 kW waste oil hot water boiler for heating pools, hot tubs and even the house. The new boiler was launched at the Royal Norfolk Show and won the gold award and first prize. Judge Neal Sands said: “I like the idea of eliminating fuel costs by using waste oil. It is well manufactured and designed and user friendly as well as the advantage of using the pool backwash water to flush out the internal flues.”
The Thermopool waste oil boiler is a multi-fuelled shell and tube boiler giving maximum heat transfer with its unique evaporative burning system that burns all types of waste oils including engine oil, hydraulic oil, vegetable oil and virtually any heavy oil that can be pumped including diesel and kerosene. It is the only heating system on the market that requires no preheating of oil prior to burning, no compressed air and no fine filtration of oil. It is environmentally friendly because the unique evaporative burning system only burns what is
evaporated leaving all the harmful pollutant in the ash tray for removal which only takes seconds per day to remove before relighting. It is free heat because most garages and factories are paying to have waste oil cleared and is readily obtainable to use as a fuel.
