SPN AUG 2012 HotTub&SwimSpaNews

www.swimmingpoolnews.co.uk SCP REFLECTS ON GROWING UK MARKET POSITION

business in Europe. With the constant support of our three major manufacturers, Beachcomber, Dynasty and Nordic, and thanks to the great sense of business and expertise of our UK team, we have been building a strong position through the most professional dealer networks.

SCP long serving staff are rewarded

SCP UK have been enjoying a triple hot tub celebration – a successful start to 2012, rewarding long serving staff and reflecting on a growing and successful relationship with dealers and manufacturers. The company has been providing full support for more than 12 years to pool and spa dealers with high inventory levels, an extensive quality product portfolio, including swim spas and

in-house technical

services. A key element, says SCP UK, is the support from leading manufacturers Beachcomber, Dynasty and Nordic Spas.

Blake Scott, executive Vice President from Beachcomber said: “We began our partnership with SCP in the summer of 1999. SCP provides a 15 model line-up and has a large inventory of Beachcomber Hot Tubs conveniently stocked at Basildon and Gatwick. We regularly organise factory training and visits to the UK to provide excellent customer care and education on Beachcomber’s unique features and benefits such as proprietary hybrid

design and construction,

highest energy efficiency rating as per California Energy Commission testing standards, unique surround sound, mood lighting and safety features.”

Jim Jones from Dynasty Spas said: “With a very successful start to the 2012 season, we are very excited to announce that SCP and Dynasty Spas are celebrating their 10th anniversary in their manufacturing / distribution partnership.

Both brands which are being offered by SCP UK, Dynasty Spas and Garden Leisure Spas have introduced many new features in their spas. Sylvia Monfort, SCP Europe Chief Executive and UK director said: “When we purchased NorCal, one of the most recognised pool distributors in the UK, we didn’t imagine the huge opportunity of developing a brand new spa

“Even in struggling years, when bad quality entry level models were launched onto the UK market we have been growing our market share through product quality, exceptional service, and high inventory levels for both spas and spare parts. Our technical expertise has been a really key factor to get through those challenging times when so many spa competitors have either shut down or left the UK market. Add to this our large investment in the infrastructure and logistics of handling spas with a purpose built delivery truck, handling and moving equipment and more recently handling equipment relative to swim spas including a brand new fork lift truck, our spa related capability is huge.

“Today we have an average of more than 100 spas in stock in our warehouses. We have increased our stock holding of all spa related accessories and products including spare parts as well to cope with year on year growing demands.”

HOLIDAYMAKERS DEMAND HOT TUBS FOR THEIR 2012 BREAK

The demand for holidaymakers to enjoy a hot tub in their holiday lodge has broken all records for 2012. Two holiday rental groups say the facility clearly tops all the ‘must have’ lists when it comes to booking a holiday.

Alex Joll, Managing Director and founder of the Holiday Lodge Group, said: “Since our launch we have found that over half of our customers have requested the hot tub option – we are now having to buy more tubs to cope with

demand. The weather doesn’t seem to be a factor. People just love the whole experience of being in a hot tub as a special treat when they are on holiday.”

Following the demand, the Holiday Lodge Group has pledged to install a hot tub in every one of its destinations throughout the UK. The requests are in line with the recent figures released by National Lottery operator Camelot who found that almost a third (29%) of lottery winners splash out on a hot tub.

Holidaymakers are also following in the footsteps of hot tub owning celebrities such as Halle Berry, Robbie Williams, Roxanne Pallet and Peter Andre, all known for enjoying time out in their own hot tub. The group, an ownership scheme spanning a collection of UK holiday properties, shows the luxury lifestyle has rubbed off.

“The survey just backed up what our research had already told us – ‘staycations’ are set to stick around,” said Alex Joll.

PURPOSE BUILT EXHIBITION TRAILER HITS THE ROAD FOR CATALINA SPAS

Catalina Spas has a new purpose built exhibition trailer appearing at county shows all over the UK this summer.

The impressive trailer opens out to provide a lounge, balcony and office area and is pre wired so that display spas simply plug in. Catalina’s Stephen Crabb says: “We take this to county shows with dealers. The display comes with a swim spa and four or five spa models and makes an impressive and easy to set up display. We also supply all the banners, signs and promotional material. The display unit is supplied at no cost to the dealer and has proven to be very successful and has already achieved ‘new’ sales in all of the shows it has exhibited at.” The ‘ready to go’ trailer appeared at the Royal Cornwall and Royal Bath & West Show and was due to make an appearance at the high profile New Forest Show.

Catalina Spas has also moved to support its dealers with a new financing package for hot tub buyers through Hitachi Finance.

“Dealers have been asking us if there were financing deals we could provide them with so we went ahead and set the whole thing up. The whole process is now taken away from the dealers and handled by us. It just gives the dealers more options,” added Stephen.
