The two PoolManager versions only differ in the type of chlorine measurement. Unlike PoolManager, which uses the Redox potential for determining and displaying the correct value for disinfection. PoolManager PRO uses the potentiostatic technique for chlorine measurement. Private pool owners benefit from a highly precise measurement and control technology which can usually only be achieved in public swimming pools.

JACUZZI BUYS THERMOSPAS RANGE IN THE US
The Jacuzzi Group has bought ThermoSpas, the United States based consumer direct hot tub company. The Connecticut based specialist company was founded in 1983 and originally had a dealer based distribution but then switched to direct sales to the consumer. It manufactures a wide range of hot tubs and swim spas. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. In February, the firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States but Jacuzzi says the company’s recent financial situation did not deter them from taking on the business. “I am personally thrilled to enter this new chapter... under the ownership of Jacuzzi Group Worldwide,” said Andy Tournas, ThermoSpas’
President. “Their expertise and resources will enable ThermoSpas to provide outstanding service to our customer base.”
Tournas will continue his leadership role under the new ownership. The spa manufacturer will also operate independently of Jacuzzi and Sundance and will maintain production of its product line. “ThermoSpas’ ability to generate interest in the hot tub category combined with a cutting-edge system of managing leads will prove to be a significant benefit to our network of Jacuzzi and Sundance dealers and our corporation,” said Bob Rowan, President of Jacuzzi North America. “Additionally, ThermoSpas’ reputation for innovative, great quality products makes them a
great fit with our current business.”
Jacuzzi began as a pump manufacturer and today produces a wide product range including hot tubs, bathtubs, walk in bathtubs, showers and sinks.
PURER WATER TECHNOLOGY LEARNS FROM NATURE
Essex based Guardian Water Treatment has introduced Wallenius Water, a patented advanced oxidation technology system for use in the swimming pool industry.
The technology was developed as a safer, efficient way of treating ballast seawater aboard ships before it is jettisoned. Wallenius AOT, utilises the ability of light, together with photocatalytic semiconductor surfaces, to produce free radicals, just like nature does. These reactive radicals break down harmful microorganisms and other pollutants in water.
One industry target is swimming pool water treatment, and also in private or public hot tubs where the temperature of the water is maintained at a level which allows bacteria to breed very effectively. The system can vastly reduce chlorine usage, reduce the need for backwashing and improve water clarity. The natural process whereby water impurities are broken down by the natural free radicals in the treatment means that organic matter is broken down into water molecules almost instantly. This means a pool would benefit says the company from smelling less, chemical and organic odours would not have the chance to develop into unsavoury smells.
