INTERHIVA UK LAUNCHES MAAX SPAS AS FIRST MOVE IN ITS LONG TERM PLANS

Interhiva, one of Europe’s top distributors of spas, swim spas and swimming pools has opened a new UK-based subsidiary with a detailed five year plan to establish itself as a force in the specialist trade. Interhiva UK began trading from 5,000 sq ft of warehouse space in Horsham in West Sussex earlier this summer and has now started the search for dealers to work with them on the exclusive distribution of the Arizona made, high quality MAAX Spas.


The Interhiva UK team are all people with extensive experience in the wellness business. Peter Allen and Chris Allcock are joint Managing Directors of the new business with Karen McCleave as Branch Manager. “We are keen to offer something new to the trade,” said Peter Allen. “We fully appreciate that it will take time to establish ourselves and there will be a slow build up. One of the first objectives is to establish a dealer


network for MAAX. We know there are dealers who already sell other ranges but might be looking for something different.


Peter takes on financial responsibilities for the new business while Chris and Karen, two well- known pool and spa industry faces, take joint responsibility for dealer development, sales management and customer support. Interhiva UK are building up their stock-holding of the ultra-modern MAAX Spas, PowerPool Swim Spas and California Cooperage Spas. Two container loads from the United States are due to arrive soon to add to their existing stock levels. Says Chris Allcock: “Following the article in SPN for June 2012 – featuring the MAAX Spa 471 on the cover – we are enthusiastically pushing the trading-up to newer models especially as our spas are so highly energy efficient and are designed with all the latest therapy treatments.”


“We had been talking to Interhiva in the Netherlands for some time and it became clear that while MAAX spas were available everywhere else in Europe there was no co-ordinated distribution in the UK. We see that as a real opportunity,” added Peter. He said he felt there was still room for growth in hot tub sales in the UK – focused on the top end of the market where MAAX operate in the £7,500 to £14,000 range.


The business also has wider ambitions, he stressed.


“We want to get the spa business established with filters and cleaner products and then gradually introduce water treatment products for the swimming pool market and then look at the introduction of more Interhiva products. It’s very much part of a five year plan to develop and establish the business here in the UK.”


Interhiva, the Dutch parent company was founded in 1975 and apart from its spa businesses distributes swimming pools, C-Quel saunas, infrared cabins, fitness equipment, Interline accessories and chemicals and tanning beds to a growing European market.

MARQUIS SPA MAKES 500TH CHARITY HOT TUB DONATION


US hot tub manufacturer Marquis Spas has donated its 500th hot tub through the Make-A-Wish foundation, which grants the wishes of children with life- threatening medical conditions. The hot tub was presented to a three-year-old Denver boy and will help with his condition which has been diagnosed as a brain disease called septic encephalopathy. Golden Coast, the sole distributor of Marquis Spas products in the UK,


has also been an enthusiastic supporter of the foundation over the past seven years.


Marquis President John Schrenk said: “It’s incredibly rewarding that through our hot tubs we are able to add some happiness and improve the wellbeing of so many kids with life-threatening conditions. It feels wonderful to see our spas create a sanctuary for the wish kids and their families.


“We are cranking up our support


of the Make-A-Wish Foundation a notch and taking it to a higher level. It feels great to be able to do more. It’s always rewarding when you assist another human being, but it’s extra special when it’s a child you are helping,” added Schrenk.


Since supporting its first wish in 2000, Marquis Spas has helped generate more than US$2.4m in spa donations and discounts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.


COAST SPAS FILTRATION SYSTEM TOPS THE LIST


The quality of the filtration system introduced by Coast Spas into its hot tubs has won international recognition.


Tests carried out by Pleatco Labs in New York’s Glen Cove, compared the Coast Spas Hydro Cyclonic Filtration System against skim filtration systems and it was found that the Coast Spas’ system filtered significantly


faster and more efficiently than the other popular filtration method. In a controlled environment, Pleatco Labs measured the amount of media that was introduced into both spas sporting the different filtration methods and recorded the duration of time required by both systems to filter the media. The official results are contained within a report that has been published by Pleatco on their findings.


Coast Spas has recently introduced and promotes the Pleatco Dual Core filters to be used in combination with filtration. The system used in the tests are a stock system identical to the Hydro Cyclonic Filtration included on all Coast spas.
