The LL.M. offers a detailed knowledge of EU law in a range of fields. It also highlights the choices faced by the legal policy makers in these fields, including the reasons for legal integration and the difficulties which it presents. As a result of its focus on EU legal policy, the program makes extensive provision for the study of Euro- pean comparative law in the context of the European Union.
The LL.M. covers core legal areas involved in the conduct and regulation of international commercial transactions and transnational enterprise activities in the context of national/international regulation. Focus is placed upon the knowledge of legal instruments with reflective evalu- ation of the practical operation and effectiveness of the law, and upon the interaction of law with other disciplines.
This LL.M. aims to encourage a critical awareness of international criminal justice, in contexts which are perceived to be controversial or in a state of evolution. Students study the theory of criminal justice systems, the development of international criminal law, pro- cedures and institutions, the impact of human rights law, methods of law enforcement, punishment and theories of criminal behavior.
