The popular Revolution lift with wheelchair adapter from Suntrap Systems
rotation. Many features are available including waterproof hand-held control units, footrests and seat belt assembly, along with a range of accessories.
Both the PAL and ‘Splash’ units have optional variations for facilities that have both in-ground pools and above-ground spas or above-ground pools and spas up to 48 in/122 cm above the pool deck. In addition, the reach of the ‘Splash’ can be extended for use where pools have an unusual gutter configuration that requires a longer reach to the water line.
This highlights that whatever the situation, with its environmental restrictions, there is a pool lift to suit, so water and its excellent wellness benefits and therapeutic gain can be enjoyed by everyone with ease and comfort.
SUNTRAP SYSTEMS CREATE A REVOLUTION
Suntrap Systems of Birmingham are proud to offer the Revolution Pool Lift™ which is the first ever Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, standard production aquatic lift to achieve a 35.5 stones (500 lbs/226 kg) weight capacity. This lift provides disabled access for centres with more than one swimming pool and both above-ground spas and in-ground pools and spas. Constructed completely of stainless steel materials and protected with a white epoxy powder coated finish, the Revolution Pool Lift™ is a superb lift to consider for your clients.
With optional extras including wheelchair
adapter, spine board assembly, chest strap, gurney assembly to name a few.
Suntrap Systems, who also specialise in supplying capital swimming pool equipment, launched two models from the Spectrum range of disabled pool hoists on its stand at the recent LIW Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham.
Its latest Avalanche pool hoist is battery powered to give a smooth and speedy assisted transfer into and out of the pool, and complements the exciting battery powered Traveller model operated by remote control. Janet Cornthwaite, Managing Director of Suntrap Systems, says: “I have been delighted with the response from visitors to the disabled pool hoists and we’re looking forward to very positive results.”
WATER ‘GYM’ MAKES GREATER USE OF THE POOL
Turn your pool into a gym – that‘s the theme behind the Archimede range of bikes and treadmills which can just be fitted in a pool and used as aqua exercise.
Movement in water, physical exercise accessible to everyone, has specific benefits. The warm water (25°) relaxes, removes stress and lowers the heart rate by 10%, the heart can rest and in water, with almost zero gravity conditions, you are almost weightless.
NEW ‘POOL DISABLED ACCESS LAW’ FOR THE UNITED STATES
The United States will lead the rest of the world in
disabled pool access when new laws come into place in March which requires that all pools open to the public must be equipped with disabled assisted entry systems.
Possible repercussions will be felt in this country but more local authorities and councils are bringing in guidance for swimming and therapy pools.
The regulations, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), will make it a legal requirement for all public pools to have a pool and spa lift.
The changes must be in place by 15 March 2012. The new laws will affect swimming pools, spas, wading pools, and aquatic recreational facilities. The regulation defines five permitted means of entry to the pool: lifts and sloped entries and transfer walls, transfer systems, and accessible pool stairs. The only option that can be used on its own without any other means of entry is a sloped ramp. spn
