PROJECT SHOWCASE
ne of London’s newest hotels now has one of the capital’s most stylish and hip pools – thanks to Cheshire Wellness.
The award winning pool design and build business, more widely known as Cheshire Spas and Pools, has just completed a prestigious project close to the 2012 Olympic Park.
The distinctive Aloft London Excel, the only hotel connected to the ExCeL International Exhibition and Convention Centre in East London’s Royal Victoria Dock opened to widespread acclaim in late October last year.
The ‘Splash’ pool, sauna and steam room area welcomed the first visitors on opening
day after a four month project which involved a number of logistical problems – none more so than the unique LED lighting system which is a feature of the 11 metre x 4.5 metre pool.
Maurice Brill Lighting Design, international lighting experts, created a LED system for the pool which featured spectacular vertical and horizontal strip lighting all around the pool. It was a special feature which created problems in terms of cables and fittings to get the ultra modern look the hotel was looking for which fitted in with the spectacular design of the whole hotel.
The effect was worth all the logistical problems. Another feature of the pool is the liquid pool cover supplied by Heatsavr.
