SPATEX 2012 PULLS OUT ALL THE STOPS

A record number of new products, more exhibitors and a new look and feel make the early February weekend trade show a ‘must visit’ event By Alan Lewis

ISPE PUT TOGETHER TOP CLASS LECTURE PROGRAMME

The three days of SPATEX will feature one of the most expansive lecture and demonstration programmes ever seen at the annual exhibition.

The programme has been put together by the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers and covers a wide range of subjects for pool professionals ranging from water testing and pool covers through to leak detection and safety legislation. The programme also has slots for sauna and steam products, heat pumps and filter sizing.

One of the highlights of the programme is a presentation on Sunday by Dr Susanne Lee, Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology speaking on potential pathogens of significance and how to respond to positive microbiology results in swimming pools. Full details of each workshop can be found on our website and at www.spatex.co.uk/visitors/workshops

A

ll the stops have been pulled out to make SPATEX 2012 potentially the UK’s best pool and spa trade show for many years.

Exhibitors are 25% up for this year’s event, again held at Brighton’s recently refurbished Metropole Hotel.

Significantly there have never been more new products on view and for visitors there’s a raft of new developments and extra reasons to visit the three day show which is again being held over a weekend.

The show opens on Saturday 4 February and closes on Monday afternoon and is again backed up by a three day workshop and lecture programme put together by the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers.

A ‘Concept Gallery’ is a first time event dedicated to new products that have never been seen before at SPATEX, enabling show visitors who might be on a tight timescale to see the key new product innovations in one place. The concept of a special area for new products works well at other European trade shows and adds an extra dimension to the event as many in the trade look for new products to take to customers.

It’s clear that the show organisers have stepped up a gear to attract more visitors to Brighton. They are presenting a brand new feel to the

SPATEX exhibition, particularly for the show’s side entrance – acknowledged in previous years as a rather drab introduction to the exhibition for show visitors.

Another development is the presence of a Costa Coffee concession on the upper floor of the show, complementing a hot dog and cold refreshment bar.

By the industry, for the industry has always been the SPATEX mantra and it is a fact that all income generated by the exhibition is ploughed back into promoting the wet leisure industry. The show is endorsed and supported by SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association), BISHTA (British and Irish Hot Tub Association), BSPF (British Swimming Pool Federation), PIP (Pool Industry Promotion) and ISPE.
