the cover easier still. Other telescopic enclosures can only ‘telescope’ from one end, but with the up-to-the-minute Abrisud this can be carried out from either end.
Aquaflex have been selling the Abrisud pool enclosure for over 12 years and problems are few and far between due to the exacting design and quality of the materials used. Customers and pool owners can now benefit from a truly ground-breaking cover which can be installed on domestic and commercial pools alike.
AQUACOMET ENTERS THE UK MARKET WITH HUNGARIAN ENCLOSURE RANGE New to the UK market is the Aquacomet range of enclosures – 17 lines in all – from a Hungarian company which has built its reputation over 20 years on quality and the highest service levels. Aquacomet Ltd is a family business, which now spans three generations.
The company’s range has features which will attract UK customers – including a child safe locking system and high standards on break proof structures. The company began trading against the background of the break-up of socialism in eastern Europe and one of the biggest challenges was to adapt to western European standards of marketing and quality.
“We had to win our customers’ trust in order to build a Europe wide commercial network,” a spokesman for Aquacomet told Swimming Pool News. “Product development was in progress on the two important elements of swimming pool technology; pool and enclosure manufacturing. Feedback from our customers ranked our enclosures within a premium category in terms of technical and aesthetics and as a result our orders soon reached the limits of our capacity.” Today Aquacomet has four air conditioned modern manufacturing facilities on a total area of 10,000 square metres, yearly making 1,000 enclosures and 250 fibreglass ceramic pools. enclosures to 17 and plans further new lines. Galaxy, which features up to a 10 metres span availability with fixed installation construction is one of the company’s headline products. On both sides of the model and for the entire length, foldable doors are divided into two parts and can be opened up to two metres height. The doors are two metres wide, so after opening, only the support of the enclosure remains on the ground, which means there is nothing to obstruct traffic going in and out. The Galaxy range which can be attached to buildings or walls has an ‘OnRoll’ type enclosure, which can be installed without rails. The newest brand in the range is the Orion, Aquacomet’s top product, which is available in a 12-metre span, without rails with a telescopic opening and closing system.
Perhaps the most typical characteristics of an enclosure is the way the end of its sidewalls are formed, and also its manageability and appearance. Added the spokesman: “We can proudly state Aquacomet has set the bar very high. Our traditional product range’s wall endings show the virtues of conventional handmade manufacturing, accurate, seamless fittings, great proportions, excellent components, thoughtful structural solutions and long-lasting parts.”

ABRISUD OFFERS POOL OWNERS MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY
When Nick Allen of Trowbridge, Wiltshire chose the Abrisud pool cover from Aquaflex he thought he had found the ideal enclosure to suit his needs but when the building was delivered Nick realised there was a problem. “I am wheelchair bound,” Nick told Swimming Pool News, “and in order to manoeuvre myself into the pool I have to get my chair into the right position and then pull myself across the pool surround and into the pool. To do this there can be nothing jutting out from the door area of the enclosure to the pool itself and with the door open there was still a 100mm lip at the base of the door that I would have had trouble in getting over.”

Enter the technical wizardry of Aquaflex’s Terry Wickham who loaded the complete building back on the lorry and returned to the Aquaflex warehouse to work on a solution. “What we actually did,” said Terry, “was to do away with the lip at the base of the door, bring the door itself forward and down so it fitted flush to the ground. We then strengthened the re- design by bracing with extra struts each side of the door, modified the fixings and were left with a building that was every bit as strong and secure as Nick had wanted and without the difficulty of the lip.” Happily the 4.5m x 11.5m semi- telescopic enclosure is now in place and in regular use. “I am very pleased with what Aquaflex did to make the building more easily accessible for me and to take the complete thing back to base and redesign the door area was impressive. It works really well and does exactly what I wanted so I am more than happy with it.” “Abrisud is the perfect answer to so many aspects of pool use, from extending the season to the vitally important safety aspect,” added Nick.
