construction bought the commercial property to turn it into a thriving unique retail hub. “We saw this building languishing and saw that it had real potential. There is just so much space that we can turn it into something amazing.” says Sharon.
Challenge: Narrow Street Frontage, Restricted Entry Points, Heritage Building.
Opportunity: Create A Unique And Innovative Retail Space.
Being a heritage-listed property, there is little you can do to change its structure and style. The building had been occupied by a bank and a post office, which traditionally only required one way in and one way out.
Sharon and Eddie soon worked out that the original uses of the building went against a modern retail layout and appeal. Retail spaces need to be open to the street, inviting and welcoming and not narrow and closed up.
Hence, Eddie and Sharon needed to bring in the right retailers to the centre and they needed a main anchor retailer.
Challenge: Getting Retailers To See The Old Post Office As A Retail Centre.
Opportunity: Open Your Own Retail Flagship Store.
Eddie asked Sharon how she felt about opening a retail store. After all, she had zero experience in retail. So, she thought about it for about a week. And, being the go- getter that she is, she decided to give it a go. She did not really want to do retail but she knew that it was a good idea. What she’d sell, she had no idea at that stage, but she was going to work that out as quickly as she’d made the decision to proceed.
