“We had 2 or 3 potential clients who at the beginning of the recession came to discuss getting a website… They decided not to spend the money and today the businesses no longer exist. I absolutely believe this is the main reason why they went out of business- they did not invest when they had to. They left it too late.”

Advenzia’s focus is on delivering great service at a price that small to medium size businesses can afford. Peter remarks that, “although there is a cost to do things better, this saves us money in the long run.” As such, they get a lot of repeat business with 95% of their work coming from existing customers. This in turn, generates positive word of mouth and referrals.

Massive Shift From Print Media To Web Media

Businesses That Do Not Invest In Marketing Will Die Set Up Systems Before You Grow

Peter also believes in going above and beyond for services he can provide to his clients by setting up joint ventures with professionals that provide complementary growth services.

Peter believes in measured and sustainable growth and keeping the business running smoothly. The next step before any further growth can happen is to systemise processes as much as possible.

“We just do not want to expand now and cause a management crisis on top of not having properly documented processes in place. I mean, what is the point of increasing turnover several times if you are in a muddle as it is,” says Peter.

Peter comments on how there is potential to have a certain degree of systemization in his service business:

“I believe that 50% of the work to build a website, not the programming or the designs (or graphics) but the analysis of what a customer wants, can be systemized.” Peter

Peters advice to other business owners is not to listen to all the gloom and doom omnipresent in the media.

“There are many businesses which are actually thriving… Actually, during a recession, there are probably more opportunities.”
