Owner and Creative Director, Jean-Christophe Danoy reflects on ZSpace. What motivated you to start the business?


I just fell into it really. I was working as a designer at a television network and a producer colleague offered me a record company ad to work on in my spare time. The record company loved the work we did for them and thought it was really different to what others were doing at the time. So we decided to form a company. That was in 1991.


What do you contribute in knowledge and qualities to the business?


I am the Creative Director and have 22 years of experience in the industry. My role is pretty diverse, involving concepts, pitching, sales, designing, mentoring and problem solving.


How do you get business?


We’ve built up a solid reputation over the years. We go to industry awards to be seen and build contacts, we work very hard on our contacts, making calls, emailing. We’ve hired a marketing/new business manager who creates regular newsletters and updates our social media accounts - to keep clients up-to-date with our work. We also send out press releases to relevant media if we have anything newsworthy, like a network rebrand or any exciting developments with the business.


What sets you apart from competitors and other entrepreneurs?


Consistency and service. We’ve seen many similar companies come and go over the years, and many do some great work. But you’ve got to give it all to your clients. You’ve got to be there for them, no matter how demanding. We offer a great service and our clients appreciate that. Plus we offer a wide range of services – we’re largely known as a broadcast design company but we also work on television commercials, corporate films and we have a Vizrt (live graphics) department.
