Harry Payne visited our Club on Thursday 21st April 2011
R
otarian Harry Payne visited our Club as a guest of Colin Davies, although as we
all know, Harry needs no invitation to our club. He is always welcome. Nerveless, prior to asking Harry to say a few words to all present, Colin introduced Harry as our Dis- trict Web-Master, past Editor & Publisher of our District Magazine and a Rotarian who for many years held the position of Assistant District Governor. All the members present, who have access to the internet, would also be familiar with the current, regular emailed journals that Harry creates and which our Secretary forwards onto us.
M D A
ost members will remember and have had the privilege of hearing him speak
on the many occasions that Harry has ad- dressed our club and especially last year, during March, when Harry spoke on the subject of People Trafficking and the slave trade of children, a topic which stimulated much discussion.
uring his visit on 21st.April 2011, when these photos were taken, Harry talked to
our Club about international affairs. He pro- duced a sample limb (leg & foot) to show us and also a straw bottle that allows dirty water to be sucked and filtered and converted into drinking water. Harry, as usual, impressed us with his outstanding communication skills.
fter the meeting Harry went with Geoff & Colin to Colin‟s offices in
Hornchurch where he conducted a „hands on‟ training session of how to use our Club‟s web -site.
www.hornchurchrotary.org As you may know, Colin Freeman & Margareta Hamilton have sadly resigned from our Club, but for many years, whilst members, they contributed much time and professionalism, developing our web-site. Their departure as our Club‟s web-master and assistant has left us with a large hole to fill and it will become more and more obvious to our new team of Web-master Colin Davies, Script writer George Larkey and proof reader Jim Haines that they are a
hard act to follow. We wish Margareta and Colin Freeman all the best in there commer- cial interests and look forward to the day when, hopefully, we may see them returning again to Rotary membership.
