he Rotary Club of Hornchurch and Upminster was one of 400 Rotary


Clubs in the UK offering blood pressure checks on Saturday 9th April to shoppers and visitors in the nation‟s High Streets.


he Rotary “Know Your Blood Pressure Day 2011” was run in partnership with the Stroke Association to


help people better understand the relation between high blood pressure (hypertension) and stroke and its possible fatal consequences.


ver a four hour period some 183 people took up the offer by the Hornchurch and Upminster Rotary Club


to have their blood pressure checked by a team of Rotarian doctors aided by nurses in accommo- dation kindly made available by the Trinity United Reform Church in Station Road, Upminster. 8 (nearly 5%) of those having the check in Upminster were advised to make an appointment with their own doctors for further investigation, showing how important these checks are.
