I G‟day Guys T F

his is our August - Summer edition of the BULL, with many stories and photos

going back to Spring time, which to me seems ‘like only yesterday’, but once you start looking at all the activities on the following pages it certainly takes away the feeling of „only yesterday’ as you will see a lot of action, which I believe is truly indicative of a very successful Rotary Club - something that I am very proud to be a member of.

ollowing on from my comments in our Spring edition on the speed of obtaining

information! those of you that have an email address would already have received from me links to obtaining free local newspapers using “Flip Page Technology” which as you will have noticed is very easy to use. If you have lost the link or have any problems with it then please let me know. I am pleased to say that the training sessions recently provided before and after our regular rotary meetings attracted a few of our members, whom I understand are now up and running looking at our Club website and obtaining Information, hopefully having a laugh at our photos and videos.

I

f there are any other of our members that require any training then please do let me

know and I will start up the lessons again, especially as I am still hopeful of bringing "out of retirement" some of you previous one-finger typists. You would be amazed with the wonders that the IT world has now to offer, especially, the easy access to viewing videos and photos of our Clubs activities, and especially if you are like me and like to reminisce laughing at those old photos & video. If you are then WATCH THIS SPACE as I have in our video library some clips that date back many years. I think they are great to watch, especially the speeches.

have been busy working on our Club website since accepting the role of

webmaster. www.hornchurchrotary.org and I am pleased to say that I am still keen, excited and discovering new ideas, and “of course” learning how to use these ideas to our Clubs best advantage. Bearing this in mind I would appreciate your comments.

owever, I believe we have now reached the stage that we need a "Website Criteria

of Principles & Standards", and I suggest that they run along the lines of hereunder:- 1.

All Photos, Pictures, Videos, to be related only to Rotary activities and information

2. Provide Recent History, Current & Future events

Information to be printed in a legible standard size & font (where possible)

4. Photos/pictures, videos to be clear and distinguishable

5. Sensitive members-only data to be accessed only by the use of a members password a) Criteria required on what is sensitive members only data and type of content

6. Public data on Club home page a) Criteria required on what is to be on the Public Club Home Page and type of content

7. Content to be non-racial, non-political, non-sexual, non-discriminating,

8. Club Council to decide who should have the Club administration password to amend and update the website

9. Club Council to decide duties of Webmaster and administration password holders

What do you think Guys, is there anything else? I do need your input
