PRESIDENT‟S LUNCH A BIG HIT A


fter John‟s gracious reply it was the turn of PP Brian who after


his speech proposed a toast to the ladies and guests. The response on behalf of the guests was delivered by our popular DG Bob Barclay, always a welcome friend and visitor to our club. After the presentation of flower‟s to Philippa, Janet the president of Inner Wheel and Judith, Bob‟s wife the President‟s Lunch was at an end. As the majority of the guests made their way back to their cars a few of us finished off the afternoon with a final drink in the beautiful grounds of the Hall. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.

s I was being driven home I could not help breaking into that


song about Bangor, you know the one! „Didn‟t we have a loverly time the day we went to Orsett…..‟


his had been a brilliant day that proved to be very popular among all the


members that I spoke to. So brilliant I have decided to continue with this „new tradition‟ by having a President‟s Lunch next year when it will be my turn. N B. How sad that Gerry will not be able to have a wager on the length of the speeches. (He has to make one)
