Retail shopping became a linchpin for development in Monroeville when the Miracle Mile, the largest shopping center of its kind between New York and Chicago, opened here in 1954. Offering 25 national and specialty retailers in one location, it became the forerunner to other modern shopping complexes. Monroeville Mall came 15 years later with 1.3 million square feet of shops and eater- ies. Today, the Monroeville retail district includes these two landmarks as well as specialty and boutique shops.

Take a leisurely walk along the many trails or enjoy a high intensity whitewater rafting experi- ence.
