In winter, Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania are ideal for skiing, snowboarding and snow tub- ing, ice-skating and more. During the holiday season, visit the festival of trees at the Trolley Museum, the Light Spectacular in Historic Nay Aug Park and ride the Holiday Express Train at Steamtown National Historic Site.
Ring in the new-year at First Night Scranton, catch a show at the Scranton Cultural Center, or shop ‘till you drop in Scranton’s downtown Shopping District or at one of four local malls and outlet centers.
During the warmer months, visitors can can take a trip 300 feet beneath the surface of the earth to tour a coal mine at the Lackawanna County Coal Mine Tour, or board a trolley at the Electric City Trolley Station and Museum for a five-mile ride to scenic Montage
Mountain. Check out America’s largest collection of steam locomotives at Steamtown National Historic Site, and for a truly different look at the world, experience Miniature Memories.
Area waterparks include Snô Cove and the Waterslides at Nay Aug Park. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre Yankees, a Triple-A affiliate for the New York Yankees who play at Montage Mountain.
The hit NBC television show, "The Office" is fictionally based in Scranton. Fans of the show can go on a walking tour of the historic downtown and hill dis- trict to visit some of the Scranton sites that have been made famous by the program.
