The National Aviary’s Sky Deck, a new open-air, rooftop launch site is the set- ting for breathtaking flight demonstra- tions by some of the National Aviary’s most majestic birds of prey. Providing a remarkable, up-close view of the art of falconry, Sky Deck puts visitors in the midst of the action as lanner falcons take to the sky in hot pursuit of lures tossed out by trainers.


The exhibit is a part of an $18.5 million expansion and renovation of the National Aviary that includes a FliteZone™ theater for indoor bird shows, a café, new classrooms and a Conservation and Field Research Center. The entire expansion of the Aviary, which is the first Silver-LEED certified aviary in the world, was com- pleted in May 2011.


Carnegie Science Center has opened its new $5 million Highmark SportsWorks facility, a 12,000-square foot exhibit that features 30 interactive experiences and four classrooms. While visitors are still able to measure the speed of their fastballs, climb a rock wall or bounce on a trampoline, some of its new attractions will focus on health, nutrition and lifestyle.


Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh is currently undergoing a $42 million renovation, with completion set for 2012.

The Monroeville Convention Center is home to over 100,000-square feet with the capacity to accommodate 5,400 attendees. Its North Hall offers 44,000- square feet of assembly space, while the South Hall consists of 35,000- square feet. An additional 12,000- square feet of meeting space on site is divisible into four breakout rooms.

Pittsburgh - Monroeville Convention Center, which opened in December of 2009. "Green" features of the center include a heating and cooling system that uses 20 percent less energy than conventional systems, and a white roof to reflect sunlight and keep the building cooler. LEED certification of the venue is currently pending.


Technical features include: wireless connectivity, extensive electrical con- nectivity, a state-of-the-art sound sys- tem, an on site audio-visual service company, two interactive kiosks with information on local businesses and attractions, two wall-mounted projec- tion screens with g-Beacon capability and an 1,150-square foot kitchen and concession space, plus two exterior ticket booths and more.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh - Monroeville Convention Center in Monroeville's well-appointed guest rooms and suites each feature a large desk equipped with an ergonomic chair and complimentary wireless high- speed Internet access. The hotel, adja- cent to the Monroeville Convention Center, has over 114,000 square feet of flexible meeting and exhibit space available that includes two ballrooms, state-of-art audio-visual equipment, a business center, creative catering serv- ice and a professional planning staff.


The Comfort Suites in Monroeville just opened in 2008. This boutique-style hotel offers 40 stylishly designed rooms, wireless Internet service, a fit- ness center and meeting space for up to 40 people.


Courtyard Monroeville is home to 91 guest rooms and seven suites, as well as the Courtyard Café, Lobby Lounge for cocktails, an exercise room, indoor swimming pool and spa, three meeting rooms with seating to accommodate 50-60, as well as audio-visual rentals.
