Pocono Mountains Convention & Visitor’s Bureau/Mid Atlantic Events Magazine FAM Trip

Pocono Mountains, PA May 5-8, 2011 - It was just barely beginning to feel like spring as 30 planners and guests arrived at the Inn at Pocono Manor for the start of a three-day experience of the properties of the Pocono Mountains, led by the Pocono Mountains CVB.

At the time, The Inn at Pocono Manor was in ambitious stages of upgrades and their welcome was both warm and inviting. Known to local residents as “The Grand Lady of the Mountains,” the property has earned a coveted designation on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Manor is a 3,000-acre, all encompassing resort that has gained a well earned reputation as a top choice for family reunions, get- aways, conferences, meetings, weddings, weekend escapes and so much more.

While offering a warm, welcoming true mountain resort experience, comfortable accommodations, great meals and a wide variety of indoor and outdoor facilities and amenities, the property has been remodeling their overnight accommo- dations and restaurant, and will renovate the lobby and other public spaces, as well. Its beautiful event rooms include the Terrace Ballroom and adjoining areas that flow nicely, as do

the Horizon Ballroom and Mountainview Room. One ele- ment of the property that totally relaxed attendees is the tranquil, relaxing ambiance of Laurel Spa, located adjacent to the Main building.

In approaching the opening reception in the Presidential Suite, the group was greeted by the most hospitable sound: the easy laughter of David Jackson (a.k.a. “Pocono Dave”). One has the impression that Dave can make any meeting or event magically happen through the CVB, and indeed, the attendees were to see and experience much magic during this visit to the Poconos.

“It’s Time for the Pocono Mountains - and for your groups! They will be entertained, wowed, inspired and impressed,” Jackson asserted. As was heard frequently throughout the trip, “This is not your grandfathers’ Poconos anymore.”

Although there is homage to the past, the Pocono Mountains seeks to grow with the hospitality industry, keeping one foot in each era in such a way that seems comfortable and at the same time as exciting as a mountaintop zip line or hitting triple 7s with maximum bet on a slot machine at the casino.

The Inn at Pocono Manor provided accommodations for those attending the FAM.
