Explore World Languages Advanced Beginning French


This class is a continuation of Beginning French. If you already have a basic knowledge of greetings, simple questions, and numbers, this class is for you. The main emphasis of this class is the formation of the present tense in French with stress on conversation.


Cultural lessons


will be included in each class including cooking crepes to celebrate Mardi Gras. Book used is "French for Starters" by Edith Baer and Celia Weber. Approximate cost: $23. The book can be purchased from Amazon.com.


French Instructor, Kay Triden, holds an M.A. in French from the University of Georgia. She has just retired from teaching French in the Minnetonka Public Schools. Kay spent 4 years living and traveling extensively in Europe. She lived in both France and Belguim. No class: Jan. 17, Feb. 14, 21

Ciao! This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of Italian grammar, vocabulary and usage. Focus will be placed on everyday conversations and phrases necessary for the traveler: basic vocabulary, definite and indefinite articles, numbers, common questions and responses, and some common verbs in the present indicative tense. Italian Language Level 2


Building on Italian Language 1, this course will continue developing students' listening and speaking skills. As in the beginning class, focus will be placed on essential language for the traveler, but this course will expand students' vocabulary and mastery of grammatical structures. Completion of the previous course is not required, but students should be familiar with basic vocabulary, definite and indefinite articles, common questions and responses, and some common verbs in the present indicative tense before registering for Level 2. Mandarin Chinese for Adults Level 1 This class is intended for adults whose children are enrolled in the Minnetonka Immersion Program or those who plan to travel to China in the near future. Our instructor is Youmei Hou from Normandale Community College, a 20 year teaching veteran. In this class you will learn the basics of Chinese language and culture. Pin Yin (Chinese phonic) will be introduced as a basic learning tool. The class incorporates various vocabulary words and daily conversational sentences. You will be able to carry on simple conversations by the end of the class. An $8 material fee is payable to the instructor in class. No class: Feb. 21, March 14.
