Hornchurch & Upminster Jet‟s off to Berlin

Fri 17th September 2010 F

rom here we walked down the impressively wide

Unter den Linden and arrived at the iconic Brandenburg Gate, the site of President Kennedy's famous visit at the height of the 'Cold War'.

It was a very short walk from the Brandenburg Gate to the equally iconic Reichstag Building where the German Bundestag (Parliament) sits.

A

fter passing through the security we were treated to a tour of the

Reichstag that most ordinary tourists will never ever get. Our guide was so very very thorough and polite that this part of the tour, as interesting as it was ,ran overtime and this affected a later part of the tour. In perfect English

our guide would begin each part of the tour with," My dear gentlemen

ladies and I propose to....." . After

several of these introductions the group wit, Mahbub, said "I have had a lot of proposals today. All decent, no indecent ones”
