Hornchurch Town Show Bank Holiday Weekend
29th. and 30th. August 2010 W I
hen I arrived at the Town
Show on Sunday morning the weather was not too bad. It was dry, if overcast, and not too cold even though the wind did gust from time to time.
must say the Rotary tent looked good with a splendid car from Inchcape's catching the eye. As the proceeds of the Rotary stand were all going to the Saint Francis Hospice I thought it was a great idea to have their display next door.
T
he time passed very quickly, and there was a steady
stream of luckless punters when just before I was about to make my exit we were visited by the mayoral entourage... I don't know the collective noun for a group of mayors, but there was a serious amount of Bling'! On reflection I'm guessing we had the Lady Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and
their partners, just as you are waiting for one mayor to come along, four turn up!

hey were good fun, and all had a go at
throwing the dice (did they pay - Ed.?).
W
e rigged it so the Lady Mayor appeared to throw all sixes and she looked suitably surprised. She was a good sport, and of course it was a good photo opportunity.
M any thanks
to all those members who
gave up their time over the Bank Holiday weekend to help man the display, together with our Rotary friends from Havering East and Romford.
The sum collected by Havering Rotary Clubs at the 2010 Town Show was £1,214.00
a record amount
previous collections raising about £700!
