the 16th. but on Sunday the 15th of August we were blessed with a lovely day. I don‟t know if it costs Norman any more to have a good day, but whatever he paid it was worth it!

ow lucky were we? It rained on the 14th. and likewise on

he event took place in one of the enclosed fields at the rear

of the Cranham Court Nursing Home, and it gave the BBQ a real „homely‟ family feel.

his was a first in some ways, certainly it was the

first Rotary BBQ that I have at- tended where we did not do the cooking ourselves, and I have to say I really enjoyed the extra time it gave me to spend with my fam- ily and guests, and they com- mented on that fact. I know too that some of the chefs of previous years were pleased not to go home with a burned head from the sun (last year was really hot) and a „burned belly‟ (those BBQ fires throw off a serious amount of heat!).

he food this year was prepared by Shiraz‟s

chef, and it was seriously good. There was also plenty of it, which was not seriously good for my figure! Adele - the chef - was magnificent

all day long. She not only cooked all the meat to perfection, but she also laid on the salads and extras and a beautifully presented assortment of fruit and deserts. To top this off she then came round later in the day with a selection of ice creams and lollies, which went down well with the kids of all ages.

eing in the back field meant that we were able to watch the progress of the bowls competition, impressively organized and

overseen by Gerry, in the comfort of our chairs.

s usual, the competition was keen fought through all the rounds and the final was
