BOAT NAMING AND BARBECUE YEAR 7 ROWING
45 Yr 7s progressed to the water on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. They have been going out in safety singles fi rst on ropes and then fl ying solo. They are now in quads and progressing well. Their fi rst races will be in November 2010.
At Easter they completed a capsize drill at Wycombe pool organised by swimming instructor and parent Julie Lyons.
We plan to end our season with a boat naming ceremony and barbecue at Longridge on the 12 July. Following last year’s successful event we hope this years will be even better.
COACHING
Mr Murison and myself have been ably assisted throughout the year by a team of young coaches. Mark Jones, Ben Reynolds and Kiri-Ann Smith all 6th form at Great Marlow. Georgina Turner ex Great Marlow now Henley College and Sophie Mitchell a young couch who will join us to work in the School in September. Many thanks for all your help and support.
PARENTAL SUPPORT
We have now formed a parent support committee and the parents have been fantastic at recent regattas soughing out catering our club marquee and providing valuable assistance
Indoor Rowing INDOOR ROWING LEAGUE
10 teams entered the indoor rowing league this year. The year long competition came to an end in may. Yr 11 Girls - gold Yr 10 Girls - bronze Yr 9 Boys - silver in 4s and bronze in 8s
Yr 9 Girls - 4th, 6th and 11th in 4s (out of 256 teams) and 4th in 8’s Yr8 Girls - 5th in 4s and 5th in 8s Yr 8 boys - 7th in 4s and 8th in 8s
