YEAR 10’S TRIP TO BOROUGH MARKET
and Media students to Borough Market in London. This trip was designed to give our pupils the opportunity and experience to capture the very best provision of Food and Drink (the theme for our coursework unit). Our pupils were equipped with the skills to respond to the source material in order to compose a photographic image to be used as inspirational source material after returning to the classroom. The feedback from pupils was incredibly positive and we intend to repeat this trip again next year.

arly this term we took our Year 10 GCSE Artists and the Creative
On the 20th of May I and my fellow students who took art and/or the Media Diploma as part of their GCSEs took part in a trip to Borough Market (London) help us collect/items and fi rst hand photographs to go
towards our food and drinks project coursework.
Our aim for the day was to collect items of interest that might help us in our projects such as Paper bags, forks or business cards; we were also told to take as many pictures as possible. At the start of the day we were told to go around in groups of no less than three but with people we chose to be with. We were allowed to roam around the fascinating market place situated below London Bridge. The vegetable market stalls stock a wide variety of foods, some with colours we could not have imagined. One whole section of the shop was dedicated to the many varieties of mushrooms. They stocked the usual mushroom but then they had diff erent other varieties, such as shitake, chestnut, porcini, and several others. The many enticing smells that wafted from the stalls as you walked past left you feeling lost as to what way next to look. In the end I settled for buying several types of food, I chose to eat gnocchi with pesto and plenty of parmesan and a Caribbean curry that was cooked on large paella pans out in the open. At lunch we sat in the near by church yard beneath the shade of a tree, as it was quite a hot day (luckily). At the end of the day although I was very tired for having to walk around all day I really enjoyed my self; it was a day to remember and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone and every one. I am planning to go again during the summer because I enjoyed it so much.
