progressed from racing at a local level last year to competing at national level events this year. Our squad now numbers 107 including our new Year 7s.


I I REGATTAS


n May the regatta season started and we got off to a solid start with Emma Boddy and Jess Clark both runners up at Marlow spring regatta.


We then went to the Ball Cup on May 8th (South of England schools champs) we took mainly J13 crews to this event. Our one J14 girl’s crew just missed the fi nal. The Girls J13 A quad were a superb second out of 16 crews, the Boys J13 quad were 3rd out of 18 crews. Girls J13 Double of Catherine Oliver and Emily Pimlott won the gold out of 14 crews, leading from the front and pulling away from the chasing fi eld.


At Bedford Regatta in mid May the Girls J14 Octuple achieved a fantastic 1st place, beating Emanuel School and St Edwards in an exciting display of racing. The following day at Maidenhead Invitation regatta The Boys J14 quad: Joe Warren, Graham Lyons, Joe Elton, Jack Head and Cox Charlotte Money took fi rst place, the Girls J13 quad: Emily, Georgina, Jessica, Catherine and Cox Abbi were also fi rst. The Girls J15 double of Jess and Emma also took an excellent fi rst, and the Boys J13 quad were heroic losing fi nalists.


The National Schools Regatta at Nottingham on May 27th/28th is for J14 and above. We took 20 athletes this year and every crew reached at least the semi fi nals. Well done to all who took part.


Boys J14 double semi-fi nalists 7th out of 26 crews, J14 boys quad semi-fi nalists 11th out of 28 crews.


t’s been a fabulous, if busy, season with a great deal going on as the school club has grown and


Girls J15 double semi-fi nalists 9th out of 32 crews. Girls Octuple qualifi ed for fi nal where they came 4th in 7 boats fi nal. It was a superb performance from J14 octuple. This was the school’s fi rst ever fi nalists at a national event and we were the only state school in the fi nal. An incredible achievement!


We then went on to our home event at Marlow Town Regatta on June 12th. We had a cracking day. Ellie Osborn, Bethany Osborn, Philine Hamenlik, Sophia King and Cox Abbi Collingwood won the Girls J14 quad beating a strong Borlase crew in the fi nal. The Boys J14 quad were also winners, Joe Warren, Vinay Nerang, Jordan Fowler and Graham Lyons again with Cox Abbi Collingwood. The J15 girls single Emma Boddy was a clear winner dominating heats and fi nals in a class fi eld. The Boys J14 double were runners up, as were the Girls J15 quad and the Girls J14 double. The double only losing by 2 feet


At Thames Valley Regatta on June 19th the Boys J13 quads were 1st and 2nd. Well done to Bryn, Fabrice, Tom Marcus and Cox Jamie. The Girls J14 octuple produced the race of the season to beat national schools Champions Sir William Perkins in the fi nal!! It was a superb row by Ellie, Bethany, Theresa, Sophia, Philine, Ella, Jannet, Sarah and Cox Abbi. The Girls J15 double made it to the semi-fi nals and the Boys J14 octuple lost to Monmouth school in the fi nal by 3ft.


Kingston Regatta July 12th is our fi nal regatta of the season.


In season 2008/9 our fi rst as a school boat club we had a win.


In season 2009/10 we have had 15 wins so far.
