DANESFIELD YEAR 4S COMPLETE A 25.5 FOOT WORLD CUP FREIZE

W

orld Cup fever started months ago at Danesfi eld School. Mr Weeks’ Year 4

class started painting their picture back in January with Mr.Sarsfi eld. All 27 pupils, aged 8-9 years, contributed in small groups every fortnight. The picture was so long that only a third of it could be painted at any one time. So it was good to see the whole image for the fi rst time when mounted on the wall the school hall just in time for the start of the tournament. The picture includes various offi cial logos and the cup, of course, together with images of Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard, both the English and South African fl ags, the African continent with South Africa marked and some wildlife. An actual ball adds a 3D eff ect, placed as though kicked by Rooney. Let’s hope we’re all as excited as the pupils who painted this, by the end of the tournament.

ST.PETER’S SEA MONSTER COSTUMES PROJECT M

rs. Deal’s Year 5 class completed two Sea Monster costumes recently, having worked with Mr.Sarsfi eld weekly for several months. The class

of 9-10 year olds was split into two teams, who each competed to produce the best outfi t for their models, Maddison and Nathan.

Mr K Sarsfi eld FOOD AND TEXTILES TECHNOLOGY W

e have continued to maintain and develop our contacts with our primary schools.

We have done a range of food work: schools have come to us and we have done sessions in individu- al schools. Spinfi eld, Sandygate, Danesfi eld and St. Peter’s have come to us after school on a regular basis for special classes in Food Technology.

Further, we have done textile projects at Cadmore end, Spinfi eld and St. Peter’s. With two groups of Year 6, we are in the process of completing a massive banner and wall hanging, for them to leave as a momento to their school.

All the work has been most enjoyable and it was a pleasure to meet with some of the students on In- duction day - the link having come full circle between primary and secondary school.
