GOODBYE TO MR GARRETT

has now left us to work for the Educational Business Partnership, we wish him well.

F

Life goes on in the Centre and it is with some pride that I see the amount of support the centre is giving through its two offi cers Mr Ayoub and Miss Ball. Both students and parents alike comment on the powerful impact the LGS has had. Having now set up the Centre we are ready for next year where, we can be able to bring in additional strategies to support our students and ensure they gain the most they can from Great Marlow School.

Should you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact one of the offi cers. We are here to help.

SOME STRATEGIES ALREADY IN PLACE: THE MATRIX

W

e have teamed up with Wycombe Wanderers and seven Year 10s are currently on a course

which is run by the Matrix centre at Wycombe Wanderers. We have had a tour of the ground and sat in the manager’s chair (I was a natural)! The student’s are able to access specialised learning and support with their coursework and also complete some challenges which support teamwork and self esteem. At the time of writing GMS team is leading 6-2 with two weeks to go. This has been a great success and I am hoping to continue with this partnership so more students can get the benefi t of working in The Matrix.

STREET DREAMS W

e have just started working with Street Dreams, an independent charity which helps students

irst of all I would like to thank Mr Garrett for all his work helping set up the LGS centre. Mr Garrett

realise their goals and, more importantly how they can achieve them. There are fi ve Year 10 students currently on this course and they seem to be gaining hugely from this experience.

RAISE YOUR GAME T

wo youth workers alongside me run this strategy at Great Marlow School. This is for

KS3 students and we aim to explore what barriers there are to learning and how to overcome them. There are currently seven students on this course.

As always this will be reviewed and improved for next year and I hope you get the idea of the range of diff erent strategies the school is willing to put in place to support students.
